A Year In The Life Of Charlie Brown is a a combined acting and visual arts class. Inspired by the characters of the Peanuts comic strip created by Charles M. Schultz, our class will study the art of cartooning, creating our own comic strips with Hunter Walraff.
In addition, the class will use improvisation and theatre skills to chronicle the now famous Peanuts holiday stories. Mini showcases are presented throughout the year, allowing students to play and experiment with many different roles. |

Learning to swim is a new and exciting experience for children. For the past 25 years ASU has taught over 15,000 children to swim in a positive, warm environment. Our instructors strive to develop a trusting special relationship with each child, encouraging them in a gentle, but firm manner to stretch their limits as ability grows.
Our objective in the ASU swim program is to maintain high quality and individual accomplishment through small group lessons. We want your potential swimmers to have confidence in the water. In the end, this means technique, safety, and happy smiles for everyone.

2009 Kids Summer Karate Camp
June 22-26, July 20-24, Aug 17-21
Our Karate School holds three summer camps every year at our school in Soquel Village. These camps are always a lot of fun and very safe. This is a great opportunity for kids to be exposed to the Martial Arts. We teach a lot more than just punching and kicking. We also emphasize positive character traits like respect, discipline and confidence.
The first camp, June 22-26 will focus on self-defense and a Martial Art called Aiki-Jujutsu. This style includes escape from holds, grappling and takedowns.
The second camp, July 20-24 will focus on the traditional weapon called Nunchaku. This weapon made famous by Bruce Lee and is from Okinawa and a lot of fun to use. Students will receive a pair of foam Nunchaku.
The third camp, August 17-21 will focus on the weapon Tessu (Pronounced "Tesh you"). This is a very rare Okinawan weapon that is hardly ever taught. Students will receive a pair of wooden Tessu.
Along with the special focus of each camp, students will also learn the kata (forms) for their rank, basic techniques, partner drills, punching and kicking on the pads and basic self-defense. We will also be doing an art project and teaching about the history of our Martial Art. We will show a cool documentary about Okinawan Karate too!
Karate camps runs Monday through Friday from 9am - 3pm. There is an hour lunch from 12-1pm where we put on a movie and kids bring their own lunch or can order one from Aldo's Bakery. For Friday's lunch we provide hotdogs and veggie dogs along with chips.
One of the most exciting things about camp is the promotion in rank. On Friday we have a promotion where the students demonstrate what they have earned for their families and guests.
SUMMER CAMP FEES
New student tuition is $219.00 and that includes a camp shirt, karate uniform and any training materials if necessary. We also provide lunch on Friday!
