Conversations for Change Tackles Power
Discussion with others around local and national issues - learn something new, make friends, understand others perspectives
06/25/2019 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Location: 224 Church St, Santa Cruz Map

Conversations for Change Tackles Power

Conversations for Change are designed to foster greater understanding among individuals who may have different viewpoints.

Project Connect and the Santa Cruz Public Libraries invite you to explore "Power:  Responsibilities, Misunderstandings & Assumptions."

In a nation with differing experiences or perceptions about power and the abuse of power, how do we navigate situations where there is a potential for misunderstandings?  This Conversation for Change will deal with unequal status, privilege and power, and the ways we deal with the differences.

Participants in these small group conversations, guided by a trained host, practice being open and curious about all perspectives, with a focus on learning from one another. The discussions are free, but registration and review of the conversation agreements is required. To register and view the agreements, visit santacruzpl.libcal.com/event/5455402.

Project Connect is a group of actively engaged citizens who care about bridging divides in our community as a means of preserving our democratic republic and the flourishing of our country. It is a Finding Common Ground team associated with Santa Cruz Indivisible.

Deep Dive into Conscious Parenting

Almost every family and parent-child relationship is first conceived with the intention of love and respect. And although we think, as parents, that it is our responsibility to mold and shape our children's future, the reality is often far more complex and multi-layered. The premise of Conscious Parenting is that our children are born to us to create deep internal transformation within us.

Join Dr. Shefali, the groundbreaking author of this revolutionary approach to raising families, for an immersive weekend workshop on a topic close to your heart and critical to your well-being. Come away with a profound understanding of Dr. Shefali's philosophies and key concepts and how to apply them in your life to create deeper connection with your children.

Ages: Parents of 0-1yr Admission Fees: $35 per person or $45 per couple

(0 A May 2019) infantsleepbasicslogo250.jpgSleep! Are you nervous about infant sleep issues, sleep training, and your own sanity around lack of sleep with a newborn? This class is designed not to give you yet another dose of confusing, opinion-based baby sleep training methods. Instead, this class starts with the basics of infant biology so you can understand and address the patterns of sleep you may notice in your baby and start to make adjustments based on your individual family's needs.

From there, you can learn some tips and tricks from a doula with over a decade of experience working with new families in their homes, as an infant care specialist in a day care, and former nanny.

Learn how you might be able to adapt to baby's natural patterns of eating and sleeping so that you may not need to do a formal cry-based sleep training method at all. Check out my Infant Sleep Service page to learn more about my approach to sleep adjustment training.
