Vinyasa yoga is the traditional form of yoga in which the coordination of movement with breath is integral. Postures are practiced to align, strengthen, and promote flexibility in the body. Additional breathing techniques and meditation are also commonly practiced. Each of our instructors shapes the focus, pace, and structure of the practice with their unique teaching style.

All Levels is an intermediate paced class that is also appropriate for students who have been practicing for at least one year. Alternative poses will be suggested during class so that students can tailor the practice to match their comfort and level of experience.

Children 3-7

This class offers kids a fun opportunity to combine the calm of yoga with the energizing creativity of dance. Each class offers a mixture of art, yoga, reading, music, and dance, with an emphasis on play and imagination. Students are given opportunities to both relax their bodies with breathing and relaxation techniques as well as to move their bodies creatively and freely.

The Legion of Honor
Activities related to boating, including live traditional sailing songs, storytelling about life on the sea, lectures about wood
Date: 09/29/2013 from 9:30am to 5:15pm
Ages: All Admission Fees: free - $20
Special Instructions: in Lincoln Park

(Special Event Images / Graphics) LegionofHonor_Monet_Boats.jpgCoinciding with San Francisco's hosting of the America's Cup races this summer, another side of nautical life is revealed by more than 80 remarkable paintings and works on paper by Impressionists such as Claude Monet, Gustave Caillebotte, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Camille Pissarro and Post-Impressionists such as Maurice Denis and Paul Signac-artists whose breathtaking artistry reflects their own deep understanding of pleasure boating and competition.

Paintings on loan from prestigious international collections, including the Musée d'Orsay, Paris; the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam; the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; and private collections will be joined by paintings and works on paper from the Fine Arts Museums' own holdings.

Guest curators Christopher Lloyd, former keeper of Queen Elizabeth II's collection; Phillip Dennis Cate, former director of the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University; and renowned marine historian Daniel Charles will illuminate the personal interactions of leading French artists with yachting and, more broadly, underscore the important role that access to the sea and extensive inland waterways played in the development of the art, culture, and commerce of France.

Examination of the Impressionists' engagement with boating as both pastime and artistic subject is at the heart of the exhibition. In the countryside west of Paris new patterns of life, including the idea of middle-class leisure, reflected the social and economic energies of an emerging modern world. Artistic innovations such as painting out of doors developed to capture the spirit and quick pace of recreational activities. The Impressionists' brushwork suggests both the atmospheric effects and the sensations of movement that contribute to the invigorating experience of boating.

Date: Every day

Wilder Ranch Farm Animal Program Volunteers Needed!

Do you love Wilder Ranch and have a big heart for animals? Then do we have the opportunity for you! The Wilder Ranch Farm Animal Program is looking for volunteers to help feed and tend to the resident animals.

Families are welcome! Children between the ages of 6-18 are encouraged to volunteer as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering.

This is a long term volunteer position as the animals grow very fond of their caretakers, with the minimum commitment being 6 months. There are several shifts available with morning and afternoon feedings.

Prior animal experience is a plus, but you will be thoroughly trained by Animal Program Coordinator Sunny Schacher on your duties as a caretaker, and introduced to the goats, sheep, chickens and other animals that reside on the ranch.

For more information, please contact Sunny at the
Wilder Ranch Visitor Center at (831) 426-0505.

If there is nobody available to pick up the phone, please leave a message for Sunny and she will return your call as soon as she is able.
