Santa Cruz Seed Library
New seed library: Bring seeds, Take seeds
Date: Every day

The Santa Cruz Grows Seed Library is now open at the Museum of Art and History at 705 Front Street in downtown Santa Cruz. A second Collection will be established at the Live Oak Public Library in October.

Our mission has been to create a free urban seed project committed to increasing the capacity of our community to feed itself wholesome food by offering seeds and education. We imagine that the no-strings gift of garden seeds will encourage urban food production.

The Seed Library celebrates biodiversity through the time-honored tradition of seed saving, nurtures locally-adapted plant varieties, and fosters community resilience, self-reliance and a culture of sharing. It operates on the honor system. You become a member when you withdraw seeds to plant. You are not required to return seed.

We depend on you to treat the seed drawers with care. Read the guidelines in the Library binder. Don't take more than you need. Sign your seeds out. Endeavor to learn Seed Saving so that you can contribute. We need the relationship of Library to Public to be one of trust and reciprocity.

We encourage all members to learn basic seed saving techniques. Returned seed will allow us to keep the Library well-stocked. We've convened a Grow-Out Collective of experienced gardeners who will commit to growing certain varieties out for Library use. New members are always welcome.

MOMS ~Moms Offering Moms Support
As Moms, we are our own biggest fan, worst critic and best friend. Being a Mom is hard work, 24 hours a day...but with out taki
Date: Every Th from 10:30am to 12:00pm
Ages: teens to grandmothers Admission Fees: $5 - $15 suggested donation
Special Instructions: if you are lucky enough to get some mommy time, please, come solo!! but know that your kiddos are welcome to join you. Just know that the conversation can be candid and some topics may not be appropriate for little ears.

Most often, we spend our pregnancy learning about our growing baby and planning for our birth...forgetting to nurture and prepare for the changes that occur after the baby is born.  Our babies don't come with an instruction manual and we NEED the feedback from other moms to validate our feelings, check our sanity and find new ways to cope with all the new joys and challenges.  Whether your child is 1 week, 1 year or heading off to college, with their constant changes, aren't we always "New Moms" in need of support!?

Topics often include changes in your relationships, sleep issues, breastfeeding, emotional highs and lows....and much much more!

Babies in arms usually come with their mama, but a mama with empty arms can enjoy some much needed "Mommy Time" with us too!

(There is no age limit for babies/children to tag along, but please note that discussions can be candid & emotional at times and some children are sensitive to it!)

The only "rules" are that you come with an open mind, open heart and promise to honor the circle as a sacred place.
