MOMS ~Moms Offering Moms Support
Connect and share the elation, trials, and laugh out loud moments of our breastfeeding adventures
Date: Every 2 weeks on Tues from 10:30am to 12:00pm
Ages: teens to grandmothers Admission Fees: $5 - $15 suggested donation
Special Instructions: bring your baby, your pump, your questions and your suggestions :) breast is best, but its not always easy!

For some, breastfeeding comes smooth and easy, for others breastfeeding is a hard earned success, and for most, there is a little bit of both!  Nursing our babies is a wonderful and sometimes challenging task!  This circle is a drop-in group for Breastfeeding Moms to connect and share the elation, the trials, and the laugh out loud moments of our breastfeeding adventures!

The Breastfeeding Moms Circle is intended as a safe place for nursing Moms (or Moms-to-be) to come ask questions, share tricks and tips and connect with other like minded Mamas.  The Circle is facilitated by Krystal Long, a proud mom of 2 little boys!   Though Krystal is not a certified lactation
consultant, she has had training and education in counseling breastfeeding women.  She nursed her first son for 15 months and and is currently exclusively breastfeeding her second.  Krystal, and the other Moms in the circle, are more than happy to share their knowledge, experiences, encouragement and, if necessary, refer Moms to experts within our community for help with any breastfeeding issues!

Though the Circle is open to general discussions about breastfeeding and/or motherhood, topics often brought up include:  milk supply, pumping, latch, is baby getting enough, nursing positions, introducing bottles, diet, nursing in pubic, introducing solids, extended breastfeeding, weaning and
much much more!

So, if you are happily breastfeeding, struggling a bit with your nursing relationship, or pregnant and wanting more information,

*this group is offered on a drop-in basis, come whenever you can (even if it's 20 minutes late..we are on mommy time!) we ask for a small donation of $5 - $15 if you can afford it. You will not be turned away if you can't pay, please come join us!*

The only "rules" are that you come with an open mind, open heart and promise to honor the circle as a sacred place.

Santa Cruz Seed Library
New seed library: Bring seeds, Take seeds
Date: Every day

The Santa Cruz Grows Seed Library is now open at the Museum of Art and History at 705 Front Street in downtown Santa Cruz. A second Collection will be established at the Live Oak Public Library in October.

Our mission has been to create a free urban seed project committed to increasing the capacity of our community to feed itself wholesome food by offering seeds and education. We imagine that the no-strings gift of garden seeds will encourage urban food production.

The Seed Library celebrates biodiversity through the time-honored tradition of seed saving, nurtures locally-adapted plant varieties, and fosters community resilience, self-reliance and a culture of sharing. It operates on the honor system. You become a member when you withdraw seeds to plant. You are not required to return seed.

We depend on you to treat the seed drawers with care. Read the guidelines in the Library binder. Don't take more than you need. Sign your seeds out. Endeavor to learn Seed Saving so that you can contribute. We need the relationship of Library to Public to be one of trust and reciprocity.

We encourage all members to learn basic seed saving techniques. Returned seed will allow us to keep the Library well-stocked. We've convened a Grow-Out Collective of experienced gardeners who will commit to growing certain varieties out for Library use. New members are always welcome.
