State Park Wilder Ranch
We're looking for volunteers to help feed and tend to the resident animals. Families are welcome!
Date: Every day

Wilder Ranch Farm Animal Program Volunteers Needed!

Do you love Wilder Ranch and have a big heart for animals? Then do we have the opportunity for you! The Wilder Ranch Farm Animal Program is looking for volunteers to help feed and tend to the resident animals.

Families are welcome! Children between the ages of 6-18 are encouraged to volunteer as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering.

This is a long term volunteer position as the animals grow very fond of their caretakers, with the minimum commitment being 6 months. There are several shifts available with morning and afternoon feedings.

Prior animal experience is a plus, but you will be thoroughly trained by Animal Program Coordinator Sunny Schacher on your duties as a caretaker, and introduced to the goats, sheep, chickens and other animals that reside on the ranch.

For more information, please contact Sunny at the
Wilder Ranch Visitor Center at (831) 426-0505.

If there is nobody available to pick up the phone, please leave a message for Sunny and she will return your call as soon as she is able.

Children are encouraged to come to the tour and engage in the environment. At St. Stephen's parent and teacher partnership is facilitated through conversation and information to create a solid learning foundation for each child. For example each week an informational email including pictures of activities is sent to families in order to describe the learning objectives behind the fun.

In these tough economic times we offer an affordable option for the care of your child while providing the high quality support parents desire. Please come and experience St Stephen's creativity, care, and confidence.

Changes include fresh and colorful paint in several classrooms, an Art & Science classroom, and a re-designed 2 year old toddler program. Mayra Oliva, our toddler teacher, is bilingual in Spanish and is incorporating new and fun ideas into the curriculum.

Director, Kathy Berens has taught over 10 years at accredited Preschools and Child Development Programs. Kathy recently received an award from Palo Alto University for Student and Outstanding Senior Internship Presentation of the Year reflecting her work, thus far, completed for St. Stephen's Child Development Center.

We offer both teacher-directed and child-centered developmental activities through play and discovery. Children's interests emerge from planned activities on which we expand. As trained observers, we teach to each child's individual needs and interests. This process fosters cognitive, physical and social/emotional development. Our small class size provides a nurturing environment with a solid academic foundation that is well rounded and inspires a love for learning.
