Suggested donation to hall renovation fund $5.00

What is TRE® (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises®)

TRE is a simple, gentle and profound technique that facilities the lengthening and relaxation of the psoas muscle and the release of physical and emotional tension and stress. The TRE exercises tire the legs, triggering an involuntary shaking and trembling response, which begins in the legs and often spreads throughout the body. This natural response is the nervous systems way of discharging long-held tension and unconscious body contraction (due to everyday stress and traumatic life experiences), in order to restore the body to wholeness.

Some of the reported benefit of TRE are:

Healing of symptoms of sciatica and fibromyalgia, release of deep chronic tension and anxiety, better sleep, increase of overall energy and stamina, shake loose of unconscious muscle contraction, improved circulation and flexibility, relief from chronic lower back, neck and shoulder pain.

TRE was developed by Dr. David Berceli, a bio-energetic therapist and social worker, who used it successfully worldwide working with soldiers, firefighters, police officers and survivors of war, natural disasters and other traumatic circumstances to help alleviate the many symptoms of post-traumatic stress. TRE is taught in over 60 countries worldwide.

This workshop is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The exercises can be modified to accommodate any body's need.

San Lorenzo Valley High School
Classic with elaborate dance numbers and emotionally-charged songs
Date: Every day (Apr 26-May 6)
Ages: 13-14 Admission Fees: $9 - $15

(0 April 2018) WestSideStory_SLV.jpg"San Lorenzo Valley High School is proud to present West Side Story. The high school's upcoming production of West Side Story is filled with elaborate dance numbers and emotionally-charged songs that have more rawness to them than any musical theater lover could imagine.

The cast members of West Side Story have put tremendous effort into realizing the characters in the story, from the toughness of Riff, the boldness of Anita, the fervor of Tony, and the dreamlike modesty of Maria. The show's tension between the two major gangs, the Sharks and the Jets, keeps an audience riveted throughout the performance.

The show is action-packed, heart-wrenching, crude, and tragically romantic all at once. West Side Story juggles themes of race and class, and awakens the spirit with classic Broadway songs that are forever etched in the American musical theater repertoire.

Performances run from the 26th of April to the 6th of May at the SLVHS Performing Arts Center, where tickets will be sold at the box office or online at hs.slvusd.org. The production has mature themes, but all ages may attend. Ticket prices range from $9-$15. There will also be an available donation center to help support hurricane relief in Puerto Rico." How do students know if Kirby is a good fit? A shadow day is an ideal way to find out
Date: Every Mon (Nov 1-May 1)
Ages: Family Admission Fees: FREE

Shadow Day

How do students know if Kirby is a good fit? A shadow day is an ideal way to find out. We will pair your student with a student host with similar interests. Together they will experience a "day in the life" at Kirby. They will attend classes together, hang out with other Kirby students, and enjoy lunch with their host and some of their friends.

How it works:

  • Monday is our preferred shadow day because of our block schedule. However, a shadow day can be scheduled any day of the week.
  • Student shadows are treated to a hot lunch made fresh in our kitchen.
  • Schedule your shadow day through the Admissions Office. Call (831) 423-0658 ×202.

(0 March 2018) SaveOurShores-PhotoContest.jpgGet excited about our 3rd annual Waves and Wildlife photo competition! We'll start accepting entries THIS Sunday, April 1 and will continue to do so until Thursday, May 31.

Each year, Save Our Shores encourages amateur photographers to submit their best shots from state marine protected areas (MPAs) along the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to our Waves and Wildlife competition. The best images are then displayed in a month-long exhibit at the Sanctuary Exploration Center. Save Our Shores aims to raise awareness and appreciation of our local marine protected areas by highlighting these locations and the amazing wildlife and ecosystems within them. Below are some of our top submissions from the 2017 Waves and Wildlife photo competition.

Winners will be announced in mid-June and the best photos will be displayed throughout July in an exhibit at the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center - Unofficial!
