Full Moon Madness
Friday July 27; events start at 6pm

Experience Henry Cowell in a completely new way... at night! This astronomy-based evening is perfect for the whole family with kids' crafts, guided night hikes, and a special astronomer guest speaker. To wrap up the evening, the Santa Cruz Astronomy Club will bring their telescopes out for stargazing. Event is in the day use area of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, located off Hwy 9 in Felton. Event is free; parking is $10. Event made possible by Mountain Parks Foundation and California State Parks.

These tools help writers' organization and help communicate understanding of knowledge in easy to create structures. These tools can be used as an assessment tool for educators. Learn effective tools to help teenagers
Date: The 9th of every month from 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Admission Fees: free
Special Instructions: Parking and entrance are in the back.

Parent Support Group for Parents of Teens

This is a monthly meeting where parents of teenagers can share their challenges, concerns, problem solve together, and find support. The group is open to parents of teens all throughout Santa Cruz County. These groups are based on the principles of Positive Discipline but will be led in a support group format versus an instructional class.

 

Facilitated by Stephanie Tam Rosas, MA who is PDCR's Board VP and a Certified Positive Discipline Parent and Teacher Educator. She currently works with youth in Santa Cruz County and has worked closely with teen moms, foster youth, and domestic violence survivors. Visit tamrosas.com for more info.

Positive Discipline for Parents of Preschoolers (2-5 yrs.)

Positive Discipline Community Resources
Provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting
Date: Every Mon and Tues (Aug 28-Oct 16) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Admission Fees: $80 per person and $10 per child per class session for childcare

Positive Discipline for Parents of Preschoolers (2-5 yrs.)

This 8-week (16-hour) class series (tailored specifically for parents of preschoolers) provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting.  Some of the prominent themes include early child brain development, social emotional learning, belonging and significance as innate social needs, the essential nature of long-term positive parent-child relationships, mutual respect, modeling behaviors, authoritative parenting styles that use kindness and firmness at the same time, connection before correction, the criteria for effective discipline, agreements and follow-through, non-violent communication, family meetings, routines, and the internal locus of control that guides parents and children alike to practice self-regulation.   

 
Facilitated by Colleen Murphy, Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, ECE co-op teacher with over 16 years of ECE teaching experience both with children and as a parent educator.
