Positive Discipline for Parents of Preschoolers (2-5 yrs.) intensive class series

What: This 8-week (8-hour) class series (tailored specifically for parents of preschoolers) provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting.  Some of the prominent themes include early child brain development, social emotional learning, belonging and significance as innate social needs, the essential nature of long-term positive parent-child relationships, mutual respect, modeling behaviors, authoritative parenting styles that use kindness and firmness at the same time, connection before correction, the criteria for effective discipline, agreements and follow-through, non-violent communication, family meetings, routines, and the internal locus of control that guides parents and children alike to practice self-regulation.  

  
Facilitated by Colleen Murphy, Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, ECE co-op teacher with over 16 years of ECE teaching experience both with children and as a parent educator.

Attend this 8-week Triple P Group to meet other families and learn simple strategies to help you: Build a positive relationship with your teen; Understand and recognize everyday influences on your teen's behaviors; Respond to parenting challenges calmly and consistently; Teach your teen how to solve problems and deal with risky situations; and Become more confident about raising a teenager.

This Triple P Group is free and open to the public. Child care will be provided if requested during registration. Light snacks will be provided for children and adults.

The Starter Class covers the full set of tools developed by Hand In Hand Parenting to develop, maintain and repair a strong connection between you and your child or children. These tools will also help you dissolve power struggles, help your child with separation and sleep difficulties, go beyond aggression, release fears and heal from hurts. Most importantly the group will support you with being a parent and give you a tool to off load your own stress so that you can be the parent you want to be.

Triple P Seminar: Raising Resilient Children

Triple P Seminars offer general parenting tips that can be used in a wide range of situations. This seminar is the first in a series of three for families with children birth - 12 years old. You can attend one, two or all three of the seminars in the series.

Attend Raising Resilient Children to get tips for helping children develop important social-emotional skills, such as: Recognizing and expressing emotions in healthy ways; Developing positive ways to think about themselves and the world around them; and Coping with difficult emotions and stressful situations.

This Triple P Seminar is FREE and open to the public. Free child care is available with advance registration. Light snacks will be provided for children and adults.

Navigating the School Years with Positive Discipline (5-12 yrs.) class series

What: This 8-week (16-hour) class series (tailored specifically for parents of school-age children) provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting.  Some of the prominent themes include early child brain development, social emotional learning, belonging and significance as innate social needs, the essential nature of long-term positive parent-child relationships, mutual respect, modeling behaviors, authoritative parenting styles that use kindness and firmness at the same time, connection before correction, the criteria for effective discipline, agreements and follow-through, non-violent communication, family meetings, routines, and the internal locus of control that guides parents and children alike to practice self-regulation.
