Santa Cruz Montessori Philosophy and History
Santa Cruz Montessori nurtures and guides children from 18 months to 14 years with a philosophy of quality education and exceptional care in a safe and nurturing environment. Our programs focus on building independence, a love of learning, and respect for self, others, and our world. At Santa Cruz Montessori we see education as a "preparation for life."
Established in 1964, Santa Cruz Montessori is a private school that meets the needs of the whole child, with a rich curriculum that encompasses the arts, sciences, mathematics, literature, language, social studies, and music. Santa Cruz Montessori serves students from preschool through Junior High/Middle School, from toddlers through ninth grade.
Santa Cruz Montessori is located on two beautiful campuses in Aptos and Soquel. Our Main Campus in Aptos serves children in our Primary and Elementary programs (ages 3-12 years). The Winston Campus, a half mile away in Soquel, serves children in our Young Children's Community (ages 18 months-3 years) and our Junior High/Middle School program (ages 12-14 years).
Summer Programs
Our summer session includes a range of fun and stimulating sessions in sports, arts, outdoor education, and academic enrichment. With flexible, full-day programs, each with a special focus, you have the flexibility to plan an active, exciting, and educational summer for your child. Children can attend for as little as a few hours each day to full days (8:00 am-5:30 pm).
Primary Summer Classes (ages 18 mos-6 years)
The goal of our Young Children's Community and Primary summer classes is to provide a relaxed and interesting environment for our youngest students. The classes can be used for care throughout the summer or for a short session of enrichment. Each session has a special focus within the regular Montessori class environment.
