Along with many other businesses, groups and families, we are doing everything we can to help this local family. The story has touched so many of us for different reasons. Our prayers are with them.

Adrianne Gomes Family Story

In December, while 7 months pregnant with our second child, Ashton, we were devastated with the news that Adrianne had an aggressive form of Breast Cancer in both the right and left breasts. The news took all of us by shock!

The doctors' thought it best to induce labor and begin Chemotherapy as soon as possible for both the health of Adrianne and baby Ashton. On December 14, 2006 Ashton James was born at 33 weeks, weighing in at 5 lbs. Ashton stayed at the Dominican NICU for 2 months while Adrianne began intensive chemotherapy treatment only 2 days after giving birth to our beautiful baby boy! She has been receiving weekly chemo treatments ever since. Ashton is healthy and strong and developing beautifully!

Early in April we got more devastating news. We learned that the breast cancer that Adrianne had, metastasized (spread) to the brain. The doctors believe the cancer to the brain to be terminal and estimate that, even with treatment, Adrianne has less than one year to live.

Adrianne's battle for her life began with brain surgery to install a port into her brain so that she can receive chemotherapy through it. Adrianne had to have 5 weeks of extensive Radiation therapy on her brain. Once she was finished with that, she has recently added the Brain Chemotherapy to her weekly regimen of Breast Cancer Chemotherapy. Adrianne has been having a rather hard time tolerating the Brain Chemo and as a result, she recently had a short stay in the Hospital. As with anyone who is dealing with Cancer, she has her good days and her bad days, which affects the time that she gets to spend with our two young, precious children.

We appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity that everyone has displayed during this difficult and trying time!

We have set up a savings account for both Mackenzie and Ashton at Bay Federal Credit Union. The Gomes family is used to being a dual income household. With Adrianne's full-time salary no longer existing, this account will be conservatively used, mainly upon her demise, for living expenses. All profits raised from events, cookbook sales & raffles will go to this account.

~Thank you
